Eric grew up in Canada and lives in the U.K. where he leads a team of talented individuals providing technical expertise to combat cybercrime across the operational footprint of the Tier 1 carrier Orange. Since 2014, he has also been leading a team within the GSMA comprising experts from mobile operators, network and security vendors. This team is dedicated for developing guidelines at safeguarding networks within the mobile industry. Eric played a pivotal role in initiating and developing several GSMA initiatives designed to elevate the baseline security level for the collective benefit of mobile carriers worldwide. In 2003, he led a piece of work within the GSMA that led to the deployment that year of one of the first mobile signalling firewalls. In 1993, he devised a strategy for retransmitting mobile data lost across the radio interface that is still implemented in mobile devices and base stations and that paved the way for advancements in today’s mobile radio technologies. Eric holds an Engineering degree from McGill University, a Master from the Canadian National Institute for Scientific Research and a Ph.D. from the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology. He has received various distinctions, notably being recognized as an Orange Security Expert and receiving a special award for significant contributions from the GSM Association.
