Demis Hassabis
In a rare public appearance, Demis Hassabis, 'the father of AI', will take to the keynote mainstage on Monday 26 February. Demis is the CEO and co-founder of DeepMind - the world’s leading AI research company - but he might be best known for developing the first program (AlphaGo) to beat a world champion at Go!
DeepMind has published over 1,000 research papers and achieved breakthrough results in many challenging AI domains from StarCraft II to protein folding.
In 2017 he featured in Time Magazine’s 100 list of Most Influential People, and in 2018 he was awarded a CBE. In 2020, he was awarded the Dan David Prize Future Award for his work on AI.
Michael Dell
Michael Dell is an American entrepreneur, businessman, and author. In 1992 he became the youngest CEO in history to have his company, Dell Inc. register on the Fortune 500.
As chairman and CEO of Dell Technologies, he now oversees one of the world’s largest IT companies with a revenue of more than $102B. Dell Technologies serves the needs of everyone from global corporations and governments to small businesses and consumers.
Notably quoted as saying that “technology is about enabling human potential,” Michael’s vision of how technology should be designed, manufactured and sold, forever changed the IT industry.
Julie Sweet
Julie Sweet is chair and CEO of Accenture. She serves on the boards of the World Economic Forum, Catalyst, Center for Strategic & International Studies and the Marriott Foundation for People with Disabilities – Bridges from School to Work.
She holds a Bachelor of Arts degree from Claremont McKenna College and a Juris Doctor from Columbia Law School.
Julie has been recognised as one of Fortune's Most Powerful Women in Business and by Forbes as one of The World’s 100 Most Powerful Women.
Derrick Ashong
Three-time Emmy-nominated entrepreneur and producer Derrick N. Ashong (DNA) is the founder of Take Back the Media (TBTM), a 21st-century tech-driven studio targeting the Global South and Diaspora.
Derrick is a pioneer in producing multi-platform interactive content for global audiences; has hosted his own radio show for Oprah; created award-winning TV shows for ABC/Disney and Al Jazeera; and has spoken at the United Nations, MIT, Harvard, Wharton, and Stanford Business Schools, the London School of Economics, and UK Parliament on issues of tech and society.
Thierry Breton
Thierry Breton began his career as an entrepreneur in the new technologies sector. An engineer, with a Supélec qualification in computer science, he set up Forma Systems - an SME based in the USA - which he lead for five years. At the same time, he published a number of science-fiction novels.
In France, he designed and then lead the Futuroscope, the first science and technology tourism park, between 1986 and 1990. In parallel, he was also elected regional councillor and then Vice-President of Poitou-Charentes from 1986 to 1992.
He has run a number of large companies in the IT and new technologies sector: Bull from 1993 to 1997; Thomson Multimedia, a global electronics company; multinational operator, France Télécom; and Atos, a digital technology and service company.
In 2005 he was appointed Minister for Economic Affairs, Finance and Industry of France, which he held until 2007. Following his ministerial office, he taught governance in Boston, USA, at Harvard Business School. He co-chaired ANRT (the National Research and Technology Association in France), until 2019 and is also a member of the Academy of Technology.
In 2019, he became the European Commissioner for the Internal Market. He is responsible for industry, services, digital, defence and space, as well as tourism and audiovisual.
