He has over 15 years of international experience in developing and maintaining key relationships with industry, academics and public-sector representatives. Dr. Martí holds a Ph.D. in Applied Physics and Engineering from Universitat Politècnica de Catalunya (UPC) with MSc. in Geospatial technology (Rutgers & Princeton Universities) and MSc in Environmental Engineering (Rutgers Uni. & New Jersey Institute of Technology). His professional experience and academic background encompass a transversal scientific, innovative and business education in atmospheric and climate sciences, aeronautics and geospatial technology. In 2013, Dr. Martí joined the Barcelona Supercomputing Center to develop and implement a novel meteorological and atmospheric transport model (NMMB-MONARCH-ASH) to forecast the dispersion and deposition of volcanic ash, and to evaluate the atmospheric impact of volcanic eruptions on aviation. His research led to the establishment of Mitiga Solutions in February 2018. Before returning to Barcelona, Alex served for 10+ years as a project manager for the U.S. Government bridging cutting-edge R&D into industry, and collaborated with organizations such as NASA, Microsoft, or the U.K Met. Office sponsored by a prestigious Marie Curie Fellowship (3 years). In addition, Dr. Martí has extensive teaching experience at different U.S, U.K. and Spanish Universities in the field of Geospatial technologies (GIS and remote sensing) and collaborates with the top two Business Schools in Spain (IESE and ESADE).
