She graduated in Economics from the University of Valladolid in 1992, and in 1994 she completed her master's degree at the Center for Financial and Monetary Studies (CEMFI) of the Bank of Spain. She also completed doctoral courses in Economic Analysis at the Complutense University of Madrid.
In 1994 she joined the Argentaria banking corporation as a financial markets’ analyst in the Treasury and Capital Markets room and in 1997 she joined the BBV Research Department as a specialist in international economics and financial markets. In 1999 she was appointed chief economist for economic and financial scenarios in the BBVA group and in 2010 she added responsibility for financial regulation, taking charge of BBVA's Financial Regulation Committee, key to analyzing the response to the regulatory changes arising from the financial crisis.
In 2011, he joined the BBVA group's Finance Department and has been a member of the steering committee of the global finance area since then, first as head of financial trends and relations with regulators and supervisors until 2013. From 2014 she also assumed responsibility for the preparation of the BBVA group's recovery plan. Between 2016 and 2018 she was also in charge of financial strategy. In 2018, she became Global Head of Operations of the financial group and in 2019, she was appointed Global Head of Costs, Procurement and Investments. Since then, she oversaw managing the Single Development Agenda (SDA), the integrated and dynamic investment management model of the BBVA group, a model based on evidence, data and prioritization for the comprehensive management of the entire portfolio of investments, mainly in technology, made by the financial group.
In 2021, she joined the Ministry of Inclusion, Social Security and Migration as cabinet director of the minister, actively participating in the substantive reforms that were carried out. In 2023, she was appointed director of the minister's cabinet in the Ministry of Digital Transformation.
