Speaker Bio

Alejandro Holcman is a Senior Vice President of Corporate Engineering (QCES) for Qualcomm Technologies, Inc.  In his current role, Holcman leads a centralized organization that provides end-to-end engineering services to accelerate the development and commercialization of Qualcomm technologies. With more than 1,000 engineers, QCES provides services to Qualcomm’s internal businesses and external partners.


Alejandro has held a wide variety of engineering and management positions within Qualcomm since joining the company more than 30 years ago. Alejandro leads our Engineering Services Group (ESG), a team that partners with operators and industry around the world to design and deploy the latest technologies in wireless networks. The ESG team also focuses on wireless big data, Analytics, and Cloud Architectures.  In addition, he is responsible for the engineering development of our Edgewise RAN Automation cloud platform.


Other parts of QCES include Qualcomm Training Academy, Regulatory Compliance, CAD, Mechanical, LabOps, and all our internal manufacturing capabilities.


Prior to joining QCES, Alejandro led the systems engineering team for the Globalstar Mobile Satellite System and held various other engineering roles including mobile software development, 3GPP Standards, and systems/core network lead for our CDMA Infrastructure product.


Alejandro has participated in various non-profit boards, including Media Arts Center, University of San Diego (USD) Engineering, and is currently a board member of San Diego Craft Collective.


Holcman holds 29 US patents and 240 patents worldwide. He earned a Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering and Computer Sciences from the University of Illinois, and a Master’s Degree in Telecommunications from the Australian Telecom Research Institute.
